Laguna Beach PD To Host Emergency-Response Training Classes

Those who are interested in registering for the Laguna Beach Police Department‘s Community Emergency Response Team classes are now invited to register, according to a recent report by the Coastline Pilot.

The classes will take place on two separate Wednesdays in late September and will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Applications need to be turned in my Sept. 25, according to the report, acceptance will be verified through a confirmation email.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training will include hands-on training, classroom training an drill-work.  Officers said the drills are aimed toward making sure registrants can be tested on their skills and knowledge.

Once volunteers finish their training they will be part of a team that may be called on to help in the event of a disaster.

Training topics include scene management, disaster psychology, terrorism traffic control, light search and rescue, fire safety and disaster preparedness.
