Sources close to the Laguna Beach Police Department have confirmed that officers held a fundraiser to honor fallen police officer on Coutchie, who died two years ago in the line of duty.   Monies raised will be used to help benefit at-risk youth, the homeless and runaways, according to a report by Coastline Pilot.

A spokesperson for the event said the fundraiser brought many facets of Orange County law enforcement together, including firefighters, community leaders and other agencies.  A Halloween theme was chosen, according to reports, as it was Coutchie’s favorite holiday.

The mayor spoke at noon and the rest of the day was filled with a myriad of activities, including wine tasting, food, live music, face painting and a demonstration on how to make pasta.   The day also featured live and silent auctions.  It’s unclear how much money was raised last weekend, but those who attended the event said the experience was memorable.
