The following day, officers were called and informed of an assault.  The victim said an unknown women who appeared to be in her 40s threw soy milk at her and a friend.  It’s still unclear as to whether the attack was random or if the assailant sought out her targets.

Laguna Beach PD Crime Blotter

February 16, 2015 Comments Off on Laguna Beach PD Crime Blotter posted by: Bail Expert

Officers within the Laguna Beach Police Department have been quite busy since the start of the month. Below are just a few of the incidents they have investigated.

During the first week of February the LBPD received calls about a suspicious person, a disturbance and a municipal code violation.   They were also notified that a suspect stole a check from someone’s residence and proceeded to cash it.

If the check in question was valued in excess of $900, the suspect could be charged with a felony crime.  It’s unclear whether they could also be prosecuted for identity theft.   As soon as this person is captured they will be booked at the Laguna Beach Jail where they will likely be held pending bail bonds.

The LBPD was also notified about an abandoned vehicle, received a call pertaining to felony grand theft and were asked to look into a stolen vehicle report.  Officers also received calls about public intoxication, vandalism and vehicular burglary.

Anyone who thinks they have information that could help capture those responsible for these crimes are asked to call the department tip line.

Two men who are accused of crashing a BMW into some parked cars were arrested and booked at the Laguna Beach Jail.

Authorities said the incident took place just before 11:30 p.m., when witnesses said they saw the car speeding along the Pacific Coast Highway. At some point, the driver sideswiped two cars before pulling over and making a run for it.

The man’s passenger was quick to follow; he also fled the scene of the accident. Laguna Beach Police officers spotted them and yelled at them to stop but the suspects refused. When officers did catch up with them they determined that both men were intoxicated.

The driver was booked on charges of hit and run, resisting arrest and DUI. His passenger was charged with resisting arrest and being drunk in public.

New K-9 Officer Joins The Laguna Beach PD

November 12, 2014 Comments Off on New K-9 Officer Joins The Laguna Beach PD posted by: Bail Expert

The Laguna Beach Police Department has confirmed a new officer has joined the ranks.

The latest recruit has four-legs and a big smile, they said, and the K-9 has been named to honor an officer who died on duty in Sept. 2013. Officer Jon Coutchie served previously as an Army Ranger, which is where the police dog’s name was derived from.

Ranger is set to make his public debut later this month.

A number of local groups chipped in to help pay for the fees associated with purchasing the dog; the total expense is said to be somewhere around $14,000.

Officers say Ranger will help the department in a number of capacities, including drug searches, helping take down fleeing criminal suspects and will of course be able to assist during community relations functions.

The dog was purchased from a breeder in Riverside County, they said, and the department couldn’t be happier to have him on board.
